‘Sirin’ wildlife rescue center is a unique organization for Belarus. Wild animals including mammals and birds can get help here. Sirin’s team gets injured or weak animals from the wild, then does treatment, rehabilitation and brings it back to the wild. For some of them it’s not possible to be back to natural habitat due to serious injuries and such animals remain in the center. For them to feel comfortable we create conditions that are as close to the natural as possible.
The center was started back in 2015 when a group of volunteer teenagers wanted to help animals. ‘Sirin’ became officially registered as a company in the year 2018. During the past 5 years, after starting from nothing, we managed to build cubicles for animals with good conditions. We learned a lot about wild animals, worked out treatment schemas and ways to prepare an animal for the safe return to the wild home. The behaviour of animals that arrive in Sirin is all about instincts, aggression and suffering. The most dangerous thing for the workers who deal with wild animals is rabies. But our team acknowledges all the risks. Every little success, every saved life and each animal returned to the wild worth it.
We know that the work we do is very important for preserving wildlife diversity in Belarus. We do it so that our children have a chance to see animals not only at zoos but in their natural ranges – in the sky, in the forest, in the field or lake.

Most often cases that we deal with are birds that get limbs injured because of car accidents along the roads or after they bump into electric wires or glassy buildings. Carnivores and herbivores suffer from hunters or get hit by a view details car while crossing the roads. Cubs lose their parents because of that, too. Another case is when people are not aware of the nature processes of animals growing and attempt to help when they meet a young bird or a cub. They bring those to the center where we have to raise them up and adapt for the return to their wild home.
